Miami’s season hasn’t started off ideal, but then again, the team has been preoccupied with the CONCACAF Champions Cup while still attempting to get back into the regular season grind. Miami is hoping to win their first Major League Soccer game in more than two weeks after losing to CF Montreal 3-2 at home in the second leg of their Round of 16 game.
Since none of the teams in the Eastern Conference has yet won three games, Miami is one of five teams with seven points.
Though they have been unbeaten thus far in 2024, D.C. United has not yet demonstrated any signs of improvement following a string of disappointing seasons. They beat the New England Revolution to start their season, then traveled to get points against FC Cincinnati and the Portland Timbers. A team that has regularly finished close to the bottom of the Eastern Conference had to be pleased with how 2024 has started.
Last season, before Messi arrived, D.C. defeated Miami on South Beach and then drew with them at home.
