Canada became one of only two teams to enter the knockout stage undefeated. They won all three of their matches convincingly, placing first in Group C with 13 goals scored, more than any other country. Since the inaugural CONCACAF Women’s Championship in 1991, the Canadians have advanced to the semi-finals in all CONCACAF events.
Costa Rica advanced to the quarterfinals as a wild card, finishing ahead of Puerto Rico due to a tiebreaker. Their only win in Group C came against El Salvador. Costa Rica has reached the semifinals of three of the last four CONCACAF Women’s Championships.

On Saturday night, a long-standing South American rivalry will be revived.
While the players’ hatred for Argentina and Brazil may run deep, the historical series has not been as evenly matched as it is on the men’s side. Brazil holds an 11-1-1 record versus Argentina, including a 4-0 victory in the 2022 Copa América Femenina group stage.
Brazil was the other team to win all three group-stage matches in the Gold Cup, defeating their Group B opponents 7-0. Brazil hopes to win a tournament outside of its native continent for the first time.
Argentina, like Costa Rica, advanced to the knockout stage despite finishing third in Group A. The difference was a 3-0 triumph over the Dominican Republic on the final matchday on Monday.
